We support to build resilient, equitable, and accountable health systems that can respond to shocks and crises and provide sustainable access to quality health services for all. The following are key program priorities:

Strengthening accountability in health services through rights-based approaches and advocacy

Social accountability tools improve service delivery and governance by engaging citizens to demand accountability from service providers and public officials. We aim to strengthen accountability through rights-based approaches, community engagement, and advocacy. Genuine accountability requires ongoing and action-oriented mechanisms that are both formal and informal. Without rights-based accountability, equitable and effective health services cannot be achieved. We work in partnership with communities and duty bearers to develop accountable, resilient, and responsive health systems that benefit underserved populations and improve services for all. We mobilize and respond to public health emergencies, addressing gendered dimensions of health throughout the process.

Strengthening health systems and ensuring the equity, access, and quality of health services

We focus on strengthening health systems through community engagement. Our priority involving marginalized groups, such as women and youth, in planning, delivering, and monitoring health services. To ensure equitable and quality access to healthcare, we collaborate with community-based organizations, governments, and citizens. Our approach includes shifting social and gender norms that hinder access to health resources, empowering communities to hold health providers accountable, revitalizing community health committees, supporting women and marginalized groups in advocacy efforts, and influencing policies and programs for greater accountability.

Increasing the fulfilment of women’s right to sexual and reproductive health

We recognize that simply providing direct services is not enough to achieve the right to health. Sustainable change requires addressing underlying factors like gender inequality, policy barriers, and power imbalances. We collaborate with community leaders, women, and health workers to understand and address the high maternal death rates. Our approach involves shifting social and gender norms, empowering women to make decisions about their health, and testing an adolescent empowerment package to enhance girls’ agency in decision-making. Activities inform and equip girls while involving families, communities, and influencing systems to create a better environment for girls to exercise their rights and make informed decisions about their health and lives.
