Share it with others

16 Days of Activism (16 DoA) or 16 Days of Anti-Violence against Women is a global campaign that is celebrated every year from November 25 (Day of Anti-Violence against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day). In commemoration of the 16 DoA, Yayasan Care Peduli conducted a series of webinars in an effort to educate the general public on how to protect themselves, prevent and fight violence.

The 16 DoA began with a webinar on 25 November organized by YCP and UN Women Indonesia with the theme “Change the Narrative: The Role of Media in Preventing Violence against Women” which was also attended by Bintang Puspayoga as Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia as well as actor and film producer Lola Amaria. In the following week, inviting various community leaders such as the Head of the Jakarta Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Service, the Head of the South Jakarta Police Unit, a Junior High School Counseling Teacher, and several companions for victims of violence, YCP also held two other webinars with the theme “My Body is My Rights” and “The Linkage of Domestic Violence and Violence in Work Places.”

The 16 DoA campaign was concluded with a webinar hosted by CARE Asia Pacific (AP Hub) discussing the importance of a locally led response to address the increase in gender-based violence during the pandemic.
