A GREAT GENERATION WITHOUT DRUGS

News

In line with YCP’s mission to empower the younger generation, PT. Kimia Farma took the initiative to educate high school students about the dangers of drug use. YCP and PT. KF collaborates in realizing a Generasi Hebat – Healthy, Courageous and Strong generation, by inviting representatives of students from 6 schools in DKI Jakarta to become peer educators regarding the dangers of drug abuse, HIV / AIDS, and anti-bullying. In December 2020, the Generasi Hebat program invited several speakers from a health, psychology and lifestyle perspectives to discuss with students through webinars, and this collaboration will continue in 2021.

Banda Aceh

CARE engaged in emergency responses in the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami that hits Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Our work in Aceh with the Indonesian Government extends to bring fisherman in land, build them homes and community and resettle them as farmers.

COVID-19 Response

Following the onset of the pandemic in Indonesia, we mounted COVID-19 response to protect and assist vulnerable communities, particularly in the areas where we operate. We focused our initial response that focused on protection and preventive measures, and continued our response to support affected vulnerable communities with economic impact mitigation efforts.

YCP works with communities to help them in identifying risk mitigation strategies to adapt to and mitigate the adverse impact of climate change on their lives and livelihoods.  We focus on building community’s capacity to integrate risk mitigation strategies in the local development plan and budget, and advocate to local government to support risk mitigation policies and activities.

YCP works with female tea pickers to increase their knowledge and awareness on gender equality and their rights to participate and make decisions that affect their lives particularly related to their health and well-being, while also bring access to clean water for community members.

Central Sulawesi Recovery

In 2018, when Central Sulawesi was hit by an earthquake and tsunami, YCP was one of many humanitarian organizations that responded to assist affected communities in Palu, Sigi and Donggala. This emergency response was then continued with our recovery programme to help the people of Central Sulawesi recover from the devastating impacts through assisting affected communities to strengthen their resilience to future risks by giving them alternative livelihoods.
