Jakarta, July 1st, 2024 – West Sumbawa District (KSB) received the iBangga Award during the celebration of National Family Day (Harganas) 2024 in Semarang on June 29th. The Head of West Sumbawa District, H.W. Musyafirin, not only received the iBangga Award but also the Satyalencana Wira Karya honor in Bangga Kencana section through the Posyandu gotong royong program, village innovation based on local wisdom to eradicate stunting and promote healthy nutrition, involving community collaboration agents.

The measurement of iBangga for family quality, according to BKKBN data, is shown through the dimensions of family tranquility, independence, and happiness, which also reflect the roles and functions of families in a region. Indicators such as the stunting rate of children under two years old (baduta) and the Median Age of First Marriage for Women (MUKP) are also processed for the Family Data Update in 2023. West Sumbawa Regency recorded a 10.5 percent decrease in stunting prevalence in 2023.

Dr. Abdul Wahib Situmorang, CEO of Yayasan CARE Peduli (YCP / CARE Indonesia), expresses high appreciation for the award received by the government of West Sumbawa District in the iBangga Award. Abdul further stated that CARE Indonesia, as a partner of AMMAN collaborating closely with the West Sumbawa government, is proud of the innovations that have been implemented and recognized for contributing to accelerating the reduction of stunting at the district level.

“The tangible contributions of our implemented programs demonstrate that CARE Indonesia is a trusted partner, and our chosen approach has proven effective in reducing stunting. We also would like to congratulate Dr. Ir. H.W. Musyafirin, M.M, the Head of West Sumbawa Ditsrict, on receiving the Satyalancana Wira Karya award,” he said.

Abdul added that the holistic and integrative interventions carried out by the government of West Sumbawa District, supported by AMMAN and CARE Indonesia, are open to replication and adoption by other regions in Indonesia to support national efforts in reducing stunting.
